Information We Collect

When you create a Troopo account, we collect your phone number for authentication. You may also provide your name, your children's names and grade levels, your zipcode, and a profile photo.

As you use Troopo, we also collect content you create — playdate details, in-app messages, and your participation status — and a device push-notification token so we can alert you about relevant playdates and updates. Your zipcode is used to show you playdates near you; we do not collect precise GPS location.

When you grant contacts permission, we access your device's contact list to help you find friends on Troopo and enable network-based playdate visibility. This includes the phone numbers of contacts who are not yet Troopo users; those numbers are used only to match your network and are never shared, sold, or used to contact them. Contact data is stored securely and never shared with third parties.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Authenticate your identity via SMS verification
  • Show you relevant playdates and activities near your location
  • Match playdates to your children's age groups
  • Connect you with families in your network
  • Send notifications about playdates you've created or joined

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. Your information is shared only:

  • With other Troopo users as needed to facilitate playdates (e.g., your name is visible to participants)
  • With service providers who help us operate the app — Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting, authentication, and SMS/voice one-time-passcode delivery via AWS End User Messaging
  • When required by law

Mobile information and SMS opt-in consent are never shared. Troopo does not share or sell your mobile phone number, or your SMS opt-in consent or any related data, to any third parties or affiliates for marketing, promotional, or any other purposes. Your mobile number is disclosed only to Amazon Web Services (AWS), which provides both our authentication and our SMS/voice verification-code delivery, for the sole purpose of sending you a verification code and authenticating your session.

SMS Messages

Troopo uses SMS for one purpose only: to send you a one-time verification code when you sign in. We do not send marketing or promotional SMS. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP to any Troopo SMS or email support@troopo.app for help. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. For full details, see the SMS Messaging Program section of our Terms of Service.

Data Security

Your data is stored in AWS with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication is handled through AWS Cognito with industry-standard security practices.

Safety & User Content

Troopo lets parents post playdates and exchange messages. Every user can report inappropriate content or another user, and can block another parent, from the feed and from any conversation. Reported content is reviewed and acted on within 24 hours. Blocked users can no longer interact with you. To report a safety concern, use the in-app report/block controls or email support@troopo.app.

Children's Privacy

Troopo is designed for parents and guardians. We do not allow children under 18 to create accounts. All child-related information (names, grade levels) is provided and managed by the parent or guardian.

Your Rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us at support@troopo.app. You can also delete your account from within the app. Step-by-step instructions: Delete Your Account · Delete Your Data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app.
